BayState Business Brokers sold a plumbing and HVAC business located on the South Shore of Massachusetts
Established in 1960, the company specialized in helping customers with professional installation and repairs of the latest energy-saving heating, cooling and plumbing equipment and systems. Services included installation, repair and replacement of plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and gas piping.
Over the years, they developed a reputation for quality products and professional service among residential and commercial owners and contractors for new buildings and renovations. They served customers throughout the South Shore and Upper Cape Cod communities of Massachusetts.
The owner decided to sell the business because he wanted to reduce responsibilities as he approached retirement age. He had been a master plumber for over 30 years and he had owned this business since 1980, after taking it over from his father who founded the company.
BayState Business Brokers’ Approach
Business Broker Marc Gudema led BayState’s proven approach, developing BayState’s Confidential Brief to present the business to targeted buyers.
To find the best possible buyer, Marc led the research and outreach process, including posting on websites targeted for strategic buyers, reaching out to strategic buyers and contacting buyers in BayState’s database. The ultimate buyer found out about the opportunity through one of BayState’s postings. Marc quarterbacked the process from start to finish managing the due diligence effort, keeping the owner informed and ushering the offer letter, P&S and closing.
The buyer was a larger plumbing company based on Cape Cod, and the buyer and seller arranged for a smooth transition.
The seller was happy with the process and he has since recommended BayState Business Brokers.
