Federal-Fabrics-Fibers Inc. (F3) based in Lowell, MA designs and manufactures advanced woven and air beam technology supplying the US Government. A husband-and-wife team started the business in 1991 and after his passing, Bracha Horovitz took over the business with minority partners. When she decided it was time to sell the business, she contacted BayState Business Brokers to help her evaluate the business and secure a buyer.

Principal of the firm, Sarah Grossman, led the marketing of F3, targeting a strategic buyer. The business was particularly attractive given its patented fabric technology. Sarah leveraged BayState Business Brokers’ vast database of private equity firms and other strategic buyers to establish a shortlist of interested industry buyers.

Results

For HDT Global, F3 was an appealing acquisition given its patented fabric technology and its high-pressure air beam supported structure systems that inflate and deflate rapidly. As a well-positioned supplier to the government, HDT sought to leverage F3’s patent and products to combine that with HDT’s significant market presence and sales capabilities. For the F3 owners, their goals for selling were achieved and they could move on with pride knowing that their patented technology would continue to be leveraged, including its use to protect our troops. For HDT, the acquisition of F3 supports continued growth of their business including offering leading solutions to the US Government.
